The City of Oxford College’s Activate Rugby Academy congratulates their Head Coach, Alex Guest, on his new position as Senior Academy Manager for the Bristol Bears.
Alex joined the Activate Rugby Academy two years ago, where he made an impressive start to life at Activate Learning, taking the programme to the ACE final, where they achieved Activate Learning’s highest ever finish in the FRU ACE league.
Success continued for the programme in his second year, Alex working hard to ensure the Activate Rugby Academy remained a talent development hot spot for aspiring rugby union players.
During Alex’s time at Activate Learning, the City of Oxford College acquired official England Rugby Partner College status and setting up UK wide recruitment networks to help continue to grow the rugby academy.
Alex Guest said: “It’s been a fantastic couple of years at the college. Leading the programme to the ACE final is an obvious achievement but seeing players transition to senior academies across the Gallagher Premiership and university places off the back of rugby and academics at the college is fantastic”
Alex adds his name to a growing list of ACE Head Coaches to leave the programme for full-time academy roles.
Before Alex’s appointment, Gareth Harris oversaw ACE activities at the college, his contribution to the programme earning himself a role with the Sale Sharks Academy as u18s Head Coach.
Gareth now operates as Senior Academy Transition Coach with the Manchester based outfit. The programme allows not only players to move on the better futures, but coaches too.
The Activate Rugby Academy has strong foundations to keep growing and sets its sights on being a standout institute for elite college rugby and academics.
Activate Learning would like to thank Alex for all his hard work at the college and wish him the best of luck in his new role with Bristol Bears.
