T Level Legal students from City of Oxford College and University Centre have gained real life insight into the legal profession through a nine month project with Oxfordshire County Council.

The project, which began in October 2025, is designed to give an enriched learning experience to students as they apply their legal knowledge to real life scenarios and cultivate skills in communication, research and judgement.
As part of the project, students took part in their own mock trial in the Chamber at County Hall in Oxford, where they presented a case to a panel of judges before receiving valuable feedback.
The students later took part in final presentations where they reflected on the skills the project had taught them as the members of the council’s law and governance team visited City of Oxford College and University Centre.
Dan Nield, Director of Delivery at City of Oxford College and University Centre, said: “The students displayed such professionalism, confidence and maturity, and have given a phenomenal account of themselves. It was so pleasing to hear the positivity from the Judges and how the students have shown tangible development since we started in October.”
Cheryl Marsh, Law and Business Teacher at Activate Learning, said: “Our partnership with Oxfordshire County Council has given students a valuable insight into the legal profession.
“I’m incredibly proud of how they’ve approached the project, showing professionalism, confidence and clear development throughout, and it has been brilliant to see their development recognised so positively by the Judges.”

Janice White, Principal Solicitor at Oxfordshire County Council, said: “We were delighted to be invited to work with the students on their T Level project, putting law into practice. It has been an absolute joy to see the students embrace the challenges we have set.
“The students had the opportunity to talk to a variety of colleagues across the service, including paralegal and solicitor apprentices, about careers in law, routes to qualification and the work types covered by an in-house service.
“This has been such a rewarding project to be involved in and we’re thrilled to be invited back to do it all again next year!”
