Students at City of Oxford College and University Centre are celebrating today after collecting their successful GCSE exam results.

Over 96.2% of students taking maths and English GCSEs at City of Oxford College and University Centre achieved a pass in this year’s exams.
Many of the college’s GCSE students are learners who have resat maths, English or both to continue in education or progress their careers.
This includes mature students who need these GCSEs to progress in the workplace, learners who may have missed the opportunity to go to university and now want to study at degree level, alongside part-time students who have studied GCSEs through evening classes.
Hannah O’Neill, Group Director of Academic Studies Faculty at Activate Learning, said: “Today is an opportunity to recognise the commitment, resilience and perseverance our learners have shown throughout their studies. Their results reflect not only academic achievement, but also the personal growth and confidence they have developed along the way.
“Every student has followed their own unique journey, and behind every set of results is an extraordinary story of determination and ambition. Seeing our learners reach this milestone makes today a moment of real celebration; every learner should feel proud of their progress.
“As they move on to their next step, whether that is A Levels, T Levels, vocational programmes, apprenticeships, training or employment, we are excited to see what they achieve next. The future is full of possibilities, and we are confident they will continue to thrive.
“For any students who are considering their options, our teams are available to provide advice, guidance and support to help them make informed decisions about their next steps.
“I would also like to thank our exceptional teachers, leaders, support colleagues and partners. Our staff care deeply about what they do and are committed to creating opportunities for every learner to succeed. Through their dedication, expertise and encouragement, they make a lasting difference to the lives of our students and the communities we serve, and we are proud to celebrate these achievements alongside them today.”
Dorcus Kateu, aged 19, from Oxford, has been studying English Language at City of Oxford College and University Centre and is celebrating achieving a Grade 5 in English Language.
Dorcus said: “I feel great! It’s amazing. My results were one bar below my expectations, but within a great lane.
“The beginning of this year was very hectic and heavy for me. I was recommended by my physics teacher to participate in an engineering program where I participated in a 6-month long project. In addition to that, I had my A Levels to adapt to and English remedial classes in the evening.
“I would definitely recommend the college to someone looking for an opportunity for education or certification. Attending college has been made easy and comfortable. Being given a chance to grow without judgement, and helpful staff members who answer questions without making you feel uncomfortable at any time. Many small little details make this a great community and environment for growth and development.”
Dorcus will now continue her A Levels at City of Oxford College and University Centre, having successfully achieved the GCSE qualifications needed to continue her education.

Charlie Cliffe, 15, from Oxford, has been studying GCSE maths and GCSE English Language and is celebrating a Grade 7 in English Language and a Grade 5 in maths.
Charlie said: “I have a sense of relief and pride from all the hours of study which have finally paid off. Securing the results I wanted a year ahead of my peers has boosted my self-confidence and enabled me to look forward to my future and prepare for the next steps in my career.
“I would like to thank my amazing tutors and teachers who have supported me throughout my experience in college both academically and pastorally.
“I found City of Oxford College and University Centre was a supportive, adaptable and welcoming environment and I would recommend it to anyone who finds mainstream school a challenge to learn in.”
Charlie is now applying for an Aerospace Engineering apprenticeship, having successfully achieved the GCSE qualifications needed to continue his education.
