This week, Rycotewood Furniture Apprentice Stanley Mackintosh is competing in Cabinet Making at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, putting his precision, creativity and craftsmanship to the test alongside some of the world’s most talented young professionals.
In this series, we follow along on Stanley’s journey.
Day two
On day two of WorldSkills, Stanley’s skills were further put to the test and he showed composure through each stage.
Stanley’s tutor, Josh Hudson, said: “Stan is in a good place. We’ve met him during his break and lunch times to support him and talk about other things away from the competition. All timings are tight, but Stan has planned and prepared well.
“As the day drew to a close, he handed in specific elements to be marked and looked very composed. All his focus is now on the last one and a half days.”
The Rycotewood team had the opportunity to meet with other training providers and international delegates to tour some of the GB competitors showcasing their disciplines.
