Sharmen Ibrahim, Group Director of Digital Education at Activate Learning, has been honoured with an Oxford High Sheriff Award 2022/23 in recognition of great and valuable service to young people in Oxfordshire.

The annual awards recognised 20 individuals in the county who have made outstanding and lasting contributions to the communities in which they live and work.

The special ceremony was held at Oxford’s Somerville College on Monday 27 March, and nominators, family and friends were invited.

Sharmen said: “Receiving the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire award brought me immense joy.

“It was a wonderful experience to be in the company of numerous people who have made significant contributions to the communities where we live and work.”

The key theme of Mark Beard’s, High Sheriff of Oxfordshire’s, Shrieval year is “supporting young people from challenged backgrounds and encouraging our numerous, wonderful youth charities to work collaboratively”.

Mark has chosen to support four local youth charities including Oxfordshire Youth, Children Heard and Seen, Youth Challenge Oxfordshire YOCO and Active Oxfordshire.
