Do you want to start your own massage business or work in exclusive salons? Every year, we successfully train many students in becoming fully-qualified beauty therapists. By choosing a career in this industry, you will have the opportunity to combine creativity with customer care; helping people to look and feel great. Beauticians are specialists in discussing and understanding client requirements, analysing and advising on skincare and beauty regimes, giving treatments, and applying cosmetics.
On this Level 3 course you will be supported by expert beauty tutors in gaining professional, hands-on training experience with real clients. You will also develop confidence and customer service skills within an industry-standard salon.

What you'll learn
On the Level 3 Beauty Therapy course, you will build on your Level 2 expertise and develop advanced skills that are highly valued in the beauty industry.
You will study a range of specialist units, including:
- Working effectively with colleagues in beauty-related industries
- Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practices in the salon
- Providing exceptional client care and communication
- Promoting and selling products and services to clients
- Offering full-body massage treatments
- Delivering advanced facial and body electrotherapy treatments such as vacuum suction, direct and indirect high frequency, EMS (electrical muscle stimulation), galvanic desincrustation and iontophoresis, and microcurrent
- Professional Indian head massage
- Micro-dermabrasion techniques
- Maintaining personal health and wellbeing
Throughout this full-time programme, you will have the opportunity to run commercial salons at the college, allowing you to practise and refine your Level 2 skills before completing Level 3 treatments on clients. The course includes a work placement where you will gain practical insight into salon supervision, business management, and salon finance.
You will learn from experienced industry professionals in modern, well-equipped salons. Your development will be supported by a mix of interactive lessons, real-world demonstrations, practical participation, and online learning resources.
After successfully completing the course, you will be ready to begin working as a professional beauty therapist or choose to progress to higher-level studies.

About three-quarters of your time is spent on practical salon activities and the remaining quarter is spent in the classroom. One day a week is a study day.
Our salon facilities are open to the public and are run like a professional salon so you’ll have the opportunity to practice your skills on customers and gain work experience in the industry.
In addition, you will have 10 days work placement, which is spread over 10 weeks. Staff will help you to find a placement and this experience will help prepare you for work.
You will be assessed continually throughout the year.
This will include:
- oral and written exams
- practical assessments
- written assignments
- case studies
- a portfolio of evidence and work.
A minimum of 85% attendance is required by the Examining Board and the college for successful completion of the qualification.
Entry requirements
You need to have a level 2 Beauty Therapy Diploma and four or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English. Working towards Grade 4 in maths.
