The practical elements of this programme will provide you with the experience in inspection and testing of electrical circuits and systems required for industry.
This Level 3 qualification is designed for students progressing from the Level 2 qualification. This is the ideal route for you to work as an electrician, as an alternative to an apprenticeship. When you have successfully completed this qualification, you will be at an improver/ Electrician’s mate level.

How you'll learn and be assessed
This is an advanced qualification that tests both practical and knowledge-based skills in a realistic working environment. Attendance of 100% is necessary to complete this course.
During the first few weeks, initial assessments will take place to ensure you suit the level of work. There will be written assignments and online exams for each of the units. Further monitoring is completed through a number of practical preparations in the college’s electrical workshops, carried out under exam conditions.
Entry requirements
You will need five GCSEs at grade A*- C or 9-4 (or equivalent), including English language and maths or above or Merit grade in a BTEC Level 2 diploma with GCSE English and Maths.
