We’re celebrating Colleges Week 2024! This year, we will be shouting about the amazing work of our students, employer partners and local communities to really make a difference to influence, engage and celebrate all things colleges.
This 2024 celebration week has been shifted from it’s traditional week in October to February due to the general election expected this Autumn. Association of Colleges (AOC) has decided to do this as 2024 will be a defining year for the country and the further education sector.
They want to ensure the government are focused on education and that “colleges play an even bigger role in an inclusive, tolerant, welcoming, strong society and a growing and productive economy.”
Therefore, they’ve asked colleges to:
- Engage with local MPs and politicians – to lobby for better funding for colleges
- Spark student interest – encourage everyone to register to vote
- Secure media coverage – local coverage will raise further awareness
- Make a splash on social media – draw further attention to Colleges Week using the hashtag #LoveOurColleges
- Reach out to local organisations – to showcase the strong relationships with local employers and stakeholders that can help amplify Colleges Week
Activate Learning will also be celebrating our successes by showcasing some great stories from around our campuses over the past few months.
How can I get involved during Colleges Week 2024?
Throughout Colleges Week 2024, we will have a host of activities available on campus. Keep an eye on your local colleges’ social media accounts for more information.
Have a great story about your college experience to share? Want to shout about how much you #LoveOurColleges? Be sure to get involved during #CollegesWeek2024 via Activate Learning’s social media channels.
