Every year, our students celebrate getting the results they need to take up offers from the universities of their choice. 

We can advise you on which A Levels are best for you, dependent on your area of interest. This ensures that when you graduate, you’ll have the best qualifications possible to enter your preferred career, or take the next step to another academic course. 

You are also encouraged to pursue additional activities during your time with us, both to broaden your skills and prepare yourself for the steps following your A Levels. As part of your studies, you will also have access to:

A Level subjects available at City of Oxford College

When you complete your programmes, you can go on to further study at university or college, progress directly into employment, or undertake an apprenticeship.

You can select three subjects from the following: You can select three subjects from our wide selection of options:  Applied Law, Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Criminology, English Language and Literature, English Literature, Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Law, Mathematics, Media, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Physical Education, Physics, Photography, Politics, Psychology, Sociology. We also offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) as an additional option.

You will learn in a variety of ways typically through discussion group work independent study traditional essays reading and research tasks. There will be a balance of challenge and support. You will play an active part in your learning and there will be a strong focus on your individual learning needs.

Classes will take place over four days a week between 9am and 5pm. We expect you to be fully committed to your studies and attend all timetabled sessions. In addition you will have the opportunity to attend trips and visits according to the needs of individual subjects. There are many enrichment opportunities which will enable you to extend your learning beyond the bounds of your chosen subjects.

Formal assessment is through examinations and (in some subjects) through coursework. The examination periods are in May/ June. There will be a range of regular assignments, essays and class-based assessments to help you develop your study skills for the next educational step. Individual learning targets are set each term and you will receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets.

With three A Levels the possibilities are endless. You can progress to higher education to study a variety of different subjects at degree level. A Levels also offer a high standard of education which many employers require as part of their hiring criteria.

You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English Language and maths. Some subjects have an additional subject entry requirement. Please see individual courses for details.
